Looks to me that the dodge and burn-tool has been used here.

Yeah, dodge and burn.... or a light colored airbrush stroke to make it look like it is going into a tiny little rise in the circle piece. I think it needs an "ever so soft" shadow on the back side of that hump to make it more believable... ALSO the shadow that the wire is casting... seems to forget that the piece with the navigation attached to it is also behind the wire. The shadow of the wire goes BEHIND that piece |

personally i don't like those wire interfaces and ... it just looks non-tech-ish if there is only one wire, or only three wires, especially if they are scattered, well the scattered part is hard to explain... |
