Please help with resizing images

I just can't get the images scaled down right. I have tryed several differnt ways but nothing seems to work. When I scale an image down it is all destorted out of proportion. What is the trick here. Anyone please let me know how to properly resize an image.

Open it, then, in PS-->

Image-->Image Size

Check "Constrain Proportions" on the bottom window (if needed).

Choose your pixel [Width] and [Height]

Click "OK"

Then save from after that.

Don't ever use the "Edit-->Transform-->Scale" if you are trying to resize a whole image.
