Text size?

I think you don't have enough pixels fella! You only got 3.226 to the inch, which seems a bit odd.

14 point text comes to about one fifth of an inch high, which means at 3.226 pixels per inch resolution your text is less than one pixel high, therefore pretty much invisible.

Try setting your new document at 72 pixels per inch with a width and height of, say 600 pixels. Then type your 14 point text. You can always re-size your image after in the Image Size dialog box.
