Hello,

I'm really new to photoshop, so its an easy one but can any1 help me... I want to have a line that fades on both sides, its usally done on printings, its a line that both ends evenly fade out.. can anyone tell me how to do this.. Im really new so if you can explain in little bit of details, would appricate it.

I tried posting this in the newbies section but no one can answer it. Anyone here can answer?

Thanks

simplest way is to just draw a line, use the paint brush / pencil tool (keyboard shortcut b), left click + shift (to keep line straight). once the line is made, grabe the eraser tool, set the brush size to something like 100 / 200, and opacity to 50% and just left click on each end.

you'll probably have to do the eraser a couple times to get the fade the way you like it.

an easier way might to create a narrow box with the marquee tool then fill it using the gradient tool.

:D simply create a new channel then fill it using gradient tool, use black > white >black, left to right, after that press ctrl and click on the alpha channel you create, go back to your layer where the lines were, click layer mask at the bottom of layer panel.
