Hello, This is my first post. I apologize if this is the wrong section in which to be posting this thread. I have been messing around with Photoshop for a very long time. I have come to be very good. However, finding a job designing things is extremely difficult. The reason for this is the fact that any employer wants you to know Photoshop, Illustrator, AND Quark/InDesign... They go hand in hand... My question to all of you fellow Photoshoppers out there: have you come across any such job to where a requirement isn't to know programs other then Photoshop. I realize that is it important to know them, but I am not interested in laying out an ad design or anything like that. I just want to design a mean picture for someone... for whatever the job may be. If they need it to be laid out in Quark, they can send it off to the next guy. I've thought about inquering the mall, asking them how I would go about getting one of those little carts in the middle of the mall, and just making pictures for people. Any ideas?? Thanks alot. |

I think that's called being an illustrator though it's still priceless to know illustrator (especially if that's the direction you're looking at going) and indesign is NOT hard to figure out. in other words, no matter what you want your job title to be it's good to know as much as possible. if you do something for someone and they ask you to set it up for print and you go 'ah, no, i don't do that'...yeah, you're not gonna last long. chris |
