There are no tutorials on creativity, regardless of what medium you're using. The tutorials are there to help you get acquainted with the tools and Photoshop. Now all you have to do is come up with something and figure out how to create it in Photoshop. Develop a style or your own techniques. You will never find guides like "How to make cool images" or "Impressive Designs in -this- Many Steps". There are no shortcuts for art.

I personally started just by drawing items within my view - people, cans, glasses. Then just try to change how they look. If you are looking for abstracts - That is something I have not even figured out yet. One suggestion I would have would be to start by manipulating a photo. Take a picture of yourself and make it look like an alien. If you want to draw characters - read up on anatomy or comic art. To my knowledge all art - with the exception of abstract maybe - is inspired by a thought or something the artist has seen. It could be a sunset or a child but they are basing their art off of something real or an idea that came into their head. Work with what you know and have an interest in. I really think it is like just about any other interaction in life. The more you practice the better and more creative you become. E |

Start everywhere. Try anything and everything that comes to mind. Try to copy things you like. Try to copy things you hate too. Then expierment. If you F* up, move on and try something else. The key is not tutorials, not creativity (though both are involved) but experimenting. That way you become familiar with the tools, whats possible/whats not and you'll most likely expand yourself creatively. In between experiments, read tutorials about how photoshop works. Then read them again |
