adding color "tint" to photographs

If anyone could help me with this I'd sure appreciate it:
I'd like to know how you add color tints to photos...I've seen several web pages that have added a blue or green tint over a photo that gives it a nice finished look and blends it into the page. I've attempted playing with the color controls (Red, Green, Blue, hue, tint, etc.) but it just doesn't look as good as I think it can...any suggestions ?

Image>Adjust>Hue/saturation

Make sure "colorize" is checked....

tahdah! make it whatever "tint" you want
