Yups, Thanx Utopian23. I think the tutorial mention by you is from the tutorial link http://www.teamphotoshop.com/photoshop/tutorials/techniques/metal_1/metal1.php
.This tutorial is for making a metal ball. But, as mention in the tutorial for create water droplet in following link;http://www.teamphotoshop.com/photoshop/tutorials/techniques/drop2/dropphoto.php
which need to create a gradient effect by using gradient tool. So, I wonder is the method above able apply in this tutorial?

First, create a circular selection. It is important as it will constrain the areas affected by the gradient.
then, as explained in http://www.teamphotoshop.com/photoshop/tutorials/techniques/drop/waterdrop.php
Select the gradient tool (G) and in its option bar, choose a circular gradient.
Pick up a white foreground and a black background colors: get the the default colors ( BG=White and FG=Black) by Hitting " D" , then hit "X" to swap them.
In your option bar, click on the small gradient, and you'll get a list of presets. The first one of the default set is foreground to background.

Click on the area that will be the center of the gradient, then hold and release the mouse button where it will stop. Play around to create softer or starker gradients, that give a different appearence to your sphere.

Hope this helps. Remember that the key to learn photoshop is playing around, experimenting with all the buttons, and writing down what changes happen!
