cant make it stop!!!

ok, i dont know why these two little icons are always on the upper left hand side of all my documents - they are [01] and then some mountain looking thing as if to portray a landscape option or sth. They just started being there one day, and recently since i've been working on smaller images i NEED them to go away, anyone have a suggestion?

Press CTRL+H. To Hide Extras.

They mark the default slice_01. Go to View>Extras...>Slices if you want it to be gone but not guides, etc.

Hahah, that Slice marker is my pet peeve. I tear my hair out just seeing it. If I accidently select the slice tool, it pops up and drives me bonkers.
