umm.. at 82x82 pix, its gonna be really tiny, and you probably won't be able to really see the details, I would probably try to color it, then play with the curves and levels..

If you have photoshop, a simple metal appearance is in fact pretty simple.

1) Make your selection
2) doubleclick the gradient tool
3) in the gradient tool "options" pallet choose the preset gradient "copper"
4) now drag the gradient tool from one side of your selection to the other
5) now you have a your selection filled with a kinda copper colored gradient,
6) go to image menu select - adjust/hue and saturation.
7) now make sure "colorize" is checked in that pallet and put in these settings
Hue = 205
saturation = 4
lightness = -6
Click ok
you are pretty much left to you imagination now...
add a little noise....maybe use a small smudge tool and give it a brushed look.....or even the wind effect will give it a nice effect if you play with it a little
hope this helps

Ahh, heck!
I had a little time on my hands.
here is a quicky, using just what I described in the last post.
at the end I just applied a little bevil and a slight lighting effect.
