does anyone know if theres a way to make a REALISTIC paint splatter? i'm sorry i cant find an example, but its what it would look like if you shot a paintball at a white wall

I don't know a way other than just doing it by hand. Make a couple of round selections that over lap in a splat pattern, then fill with a color, and either airbrush highlights on it, or use the lighting effects in photoshop after you've created a lightmap in a new channel.

oh all right, i thought there would be a special way of using the displacement tool or something.

No, I don't think you'd use the diplacement tool at all. Here's a tutorial sorta about that, but not really. It's pretty dumb actually. Anyway...
