how come if you have it set to 100% black, that i can see some sort of brown cross-hair pattern? Maybe it's the britness of my LCD...i'll check it out, but i'm sure that Apple set it to the correct default print colours...?

You'd be disillusioned if you thought that Apple had 'automatic' color calibration, cybling. While Apple pays alot more attention to the subject, and has a lot less hardware to dance around with, there is still quite a bit of work that has to go into calibrating monitors, printer, and scanners. In graphics lab @ school we spent most of last semester chasing colors, just 'til at the end when they paid for a 'professional' to come in and calibrate it all.

I'll do the Adobe Gamma test now..
