Playing around...

I was playing around in photoshop, trying to duplicate a tv commercial.. its for a wireless phone company, can't think of the name offhand though.. :(

anyways this is what I got..

it looks pretty good, the head is good, the body is a little bit flat perhaps, and it runs in my mind the text box had a kind of dark-ish edge...

Okay, final version (I think. :P ) finally saw the stupid commercial again, and he/she/it is actually orange-ish.. so he/she/it has been fixed... he/she/it is also a little glossier.. Also added a pretty cool drop shadow..

heheh.. this must be after his cingular wireless gig, cause man has he/she/it gained some weight.. gettin a little chubby.. :D ( in the actual ad, he/she/it is a lot thinner.. )



Okay, Final_Xero, for your question..

1. Make a selection with the marquee tool.

2. Click on the channels tab, then click on the bottom button, "save selection as channel"

3. Run multiple gaussian blurs (ex. 15, 10, 5, 1 pix) just depends on the size of your selection.

4. Invert the selection and fill with black, this is to sharpen the edges..

5. Click on the layers tab, fill the selection with whatever color you desire..

6. Goto filters > Render > lighting effects

7. Go down to texture channel, select "alpha 1, 2, 3, whatever" then play around with all the sliders..

That is about it.. good luck..

i finally saw your pic the only thing is i live in new zealand and i have never seen that commercial before so....u know, but it still looks great.

You know I've always thought that Cingular dude looked very Photoshop-ish! Like something from a gel button tutorial! Cool that you made it... nice job.
