Yes, 'whitespace' does not have to be 'white'. It could be black. Or any other color. It doesn't really mean that it has to be empty. It's just another design element. There are entire books written about it. I need to buy them, actually...

I agree with Side. White is by far the best color in the world. Don't disagree with me, you are wrong if you think otherwise. White just invokes positive and upbeat feelings, as where grey and black just make the site feel dreary. I think him using white fits what the page is supposed to be projecting.
