You could take a walk. Or play a video game. Or play in Photoshop. Or have something to eat. Or make a web site. Or do sit-ups. Or read a book. Or read a magazine. Build a toy boat. Paint your garage. Bake a cake. Go for a swim. Rent a movie. Watch TV. Read the profile of every member of the forum. Visit all the sites at www.linkdup.com in alphabetical order. Try to Pre-order a GameCube. Buy a Macintosh. Draw a portrait of the next animal you see using pencil and paper. ........... etc.

I just went to Media Play on my lunch break to play the XBox. I like the controller a lot. It's big and thick and easy to grab a hold of. The buttons are all really easy to reach as well. Though the black and white buttons are a bit of a stretch. But they will be used for non-essential functions I would imagine. The only thing you can actually play on it is Abe's Odyssey demo, which is the game I was most interested in anyway. Out of the launch titles that is. Graphics are pretty swell. Lots of bump mapping on the water and so forth. It has a pretty long load time when you first launch the demo though.

I still think I may go with the GameCube so I can use it with my Gameboy Advance. And most of the games on the XBox just look like PC games. So I would rather just play the games on my PC. Plus I'm really scared of blood and gore. So Mario games will be fine for me....

The X-Box game I am waiting on is HALO. I watched the X-Box demo at a Circuit City near my house and they had a HALO demo. Wasn't playable, but the graphics were much better than GameCube, plus it's pc architecture so im guessing porting games over to it won't be a turd.

Halo didn't really appeal to me that much. Just another first person shooter. And I certainly couldn't play it with the gamepad. I would have to buy a keyboard and mouse. So it would actually make more sense to just wait for it to come out on the PC and play it.

I don't know about the graphics since I haven't seen the Gamecube yet. And they may well be better than the GameCube. That's ok though. I like my Game Boy Advance a whole lot, and it can only display like 10 polygons at a time with no bump mapping or vertex shading or E=MC2 to the 362nd power minus the velocity of a penguin sliding down an iceberg plus the rotational curvature of a metric spline texel shaders. In other words, the gameplay is what keeps me entertained beyond the initial 'wow factor' of the graphics.

And besides, for the price of an XBox, you can get a GameCube and a Game Boy Advance.
