I just made a pretty good looking new layout for my site.

well, it looks okay, but its kind of large and bulky.. it cuts way to much into the rest of the viewing area. what resolution are you intending it to be viewed at?

not much space left for information..

At low resolutions Snore is exactly right...it doesn't leave any room for the content... at high resolutions it looks nice....but the menu area might be a little too low as most people don't browse with a maximized 1024 x 768 window.

The graphics:
very nice concept....did you draw it on paper first?

Also:
I think the metal textures could be a little more believable.

Looks real nice but yeah i agree it is a bit to big, maybe cut down on size and it will be sweet. That gradient you used is cool, it is like just the right blend.Very pleasent. NIce.

i removed the oval, made it much better and made the overall size smaller so its not overwhelming on lower resolutions.

its looking better, I still think the top bar could be a little thinner. and you need to work on the font you are going to use on the menu.. the text menu is really hard to read (at least on my monitor)

i think the font on the top of the menu look's great. i can see it fine, and it's perfect for the design.

I'd play with the pitch on the "menu" header -- open it up a bit.

Other than that, I really like it. Very clean design.

needs an injection of some colour in there somewhere

perhaps when you put the navigation in maybe?
imo that would make it look a lot better
