Hello All,

I've got a really bad site for you guys, it is located here: http://www.thomasprophett.co.uk/2004

Believe it or not, I've been doing web sites along time. And lately all my designs have just been appalling past (2yrs), so i could do with some criticism and lots of ideas how to improve it? It seems i concentrate on pure coding, in PHP4/Mysql these days and I've just lost my design sense  . Effects off 9hr per-day coding eh! :(

Am thinking about moving to a menu on the left, as I've out grown the 4 links i currently have. And put up a picture of my mini(200/300pixel Height), next to '1380 MiniCooper' that has a similar effect like this: http://www.ford.com.ar/nuevomondeo/index.html the same as that mondeo in the flash movie.

Looks good don't it, but i don't know how to replicate? I have a licensed version of Photoshop7, Fireworks MX2004 at home and Paintshop Pro 7 at work.

Also hello to all the regular forum users, It's my first post so nice to meet you all.

Regards,

Thomas

Eh, its a good start I'll give you that. I could see it being nice if you made verything a set width, so it lined up nice and added some more artwork or somethign on the top and especially bottom of the page... Definetly a good start, however...

Am going to centre the whole site now, lower the text by 1unit. And see if i can get artie and add something to the bottom of the page.

Any idea, how todo that effect like that mondeo has?

Thanks for your help, its much liked.

Regards,

Thomas.

Yeah Center the design. Make a table with the same color on the content area. Think that could make quite a difference, plus maybe add a artwork logo or something.

Hay,

Had a go, at it tonight. And made a new .gif image, heres am what am suggesting:
http://www.thomasprophett.co.uk/design_version1.gif

Since i've done it, i think am gonna re-feather the car image perhaps? Or perhaps a really cool effect to build on the image? Off cource, the .gif is also missing the navigation images from the top, but i'll enter that in version2.

What do you think, and thanks for the cool replys.

Regards,

Thomas

Update:
OK, changed lots of things. You should really look at this, as its alot different:-

OK, as you can see one of the menu items is blue, thats an example as if your mouse is hovering over it. And also the text in the middle of menu, will change according to which menu item you are hovering over. Each menu item, is a different colour

What do you think now...?

looking better, but feels like it needs to be more unified somehow. Each component of the site feels stand alone.
