Please don't get offended, the following are merely suggestions to improve your site, not insults:

- keep one background for the entire site, don't change the colors throughout
- use one or two fonts and try to use them consistently
- it needs more definition, the main page is just random links everywhere
- try to use some shapes like colored squares and such to define the sections
- make the main navigation links different from the regular links
- left justify large blocks of text instead of centering them
- try to use the colors more creatively (but stick with about 3 or 4)
- the hit counter is really ugly
- use typography more effectively to get your message across
- use just white for a background, the gray doesn't really look good
- browse the web and look at other sites similar to yours to get some more ideas

Probably the best thing tele said (though all have a lot of merit), was the definition. Definitely you should try to organize your site in some manner, in fact what I suggest is a web page layout plan, something like this:


Home
|     \
Main   About
|          \
Portfolio   Contact


You can also do it like an outline:
I. Main
A. Portfolio
B. Contact
II. About

etc etc


Just whatever you do, organize your site somehow. you don't necessarily need separate sections for each of your paintings, but you can organize them like that all on one portfolio page. And you have so many links; for example, about and contact could be put on one page, etc. You can condense to try to organize those links.
