lol I didn't really design this for web so I don't know where to put the links. Does the title look good? I want some C&C too if you have time. I think this will make a good site if I can find a good place for links. original --- http://trhaynes.commscentral.net:8000/img/gendes5_2.jpg with links (not very good) --- http://trhaynes.commscentral.net:8000/img/gendes5_1.jpg What do you think? tom *EDIT* After C&C - coded - probably final design. What do you think? - http://trhaynes.commscentral.net:8000/gendes4 |

Mr Haynes :D You seem to have the exact same problem I have. You are making everything a tad too big. The header is too big and the text/buttons are huge. Try making things smaller. It will free up a lot of space and make it all look a bit more sophisticated. I have the same problem. I design something, step away, look at it later, and notice everything is way bigger then it needs to be. Then I downsize it all and it really develops more of a feel. I also believe you may get tired of the colour, or lack there of. But if you chop this up and code it, it will still be great practice. Sometimes learning the hard way is the best. The background looks a bit awkward because you have all that "ink texture" on a flat surface. It may look a bit better if the background was slightly roughed up a bit. Keep it up tho. I think this is a start and not a final product. Keep working on it and get it dialed in bud. :D |

Mr Haynes :D I agree with Mr Blom. I feel that the links are way too out there, they can definitely be toned down. Links shouldn't be in the way, in your face, or descriptive of any similar cliche. The first thing I thought when you sent this to me (on AIM) was, "Damn! This would be hard to put into a web design." I was right, i guess, and you said you didn't intentionally design it for the web. That's kind of hard but it's possible to make that as a header that flows. But anyway, this still has a lot of more directions that it could go... keep it up with the brushes eh? |

Very few brushes, supahsekzy. Scanned in corrugated cardboard, desaturate, multiply, brightness/contrast. :D Thanks for your help. What I hear is that it needs more work to make it a layout but it can work if I work at it and think about web design. I'll do that. Need to find a better place for the links, though. ;p tom *edit* I changed it and coded it and am looking at something like the final product. http://trhaynes.commscentral.net/gendes4 - what do you think? |
