Please keep in mind that I am still kinda new at photoshop and this is my first ever layout. Please give and suggestions/comments/criticism. See it here. Oh yea, you have to take off the http:// or put a space at the end of the url. |

It is looking nice for your first time. I would say work a bit more on the text to get it clearer. I like the colors and the images are well placed. Good job.

looks good. i think you should get rid of the grid though, and maybe rework the navigation ... i'm not really fond of how it is placed there. otherwise, damn good job for your first layout.

yeah, you can give yourself credit for this. It's great for a first one. Some pointers tho: - As 02 said, that navigation isn't very clear like that, maybe make a solid background for it, to detach it from the background..and perhaps make some simple and effective bullets there to really point out that those buttons are clickable. - The background-image on the content are is pretty cool and everything, but when you place text on it, it will be pretty unreadable and mushy. - Same goes for the boxed areas on the left hand side - Keep in mind that people have different resolutions on their monitors, so make it either flexible (as in have the backgrounds stretch in every direction), or box it in with a border on the table and use a background-color on the rest of the body. - Try to keep the amount of images as low as possible. A layout like this one will take pretty long to load, especially for people without broadband connections. Use background-colors in cells instead, as much as possible. It always comes down to some kind of compromisse. My two cents, keep it up, if this is your first try, I believe you'll be able to come up with some kick ass designs in a couple of years of practice. ;) |

Very nice, I agree with the previous comments and have one more to add. Your rounded corners look a little squared off, you might want to work at making them a little more flowing, and make sure you have "anti-aliasing" checked when using your selection tool. Overall, very nice work. I agree with Paavo, with some more practice you are going to putting out some great work. |

Ok, I messed around with it a little bit, I changed the navigation a bit, changed the top of it, and kinda made the content area more visible. I dunno if it made any improvements though. Also, I think it kinda looks good without the grid, like .02 said. I have the original, edited, and edited w/ no grid. Tell me if it's any better, thanks. I think it looks good, except for the "War on Genisis" text, it just doesnt fit in at all with the rest of the site. Other then that i think it looks good, but that backgrounds is going to be really hard to repeat, and its probably going to be a pretty slow loader for our 56K friends :P It looks pretty good though, keep working on it |
