1. What kind of website are you designing for you parents? Is it a family website? 2. IMO I dont like the font used in the banner. Ill get back to you with more ideas when I know what kind of site it is going to be. |

is this the Spike from the Penny Arcade forums? if so, cool. I think its kinda simple, but if thats what you were going for you pulled it off nicely. maybe fix the text in the menu, make it more vertically centered. |

Well they are both really simple, but I have to say i dont like either of them.. :p They both, even though they were probably ment to be simple, are way too simple.. IMO... I think they need something more. And in the second one the solid line box is really jagged on the corners, might wanna blur them a little or something :p Just my opinion though |

For the second preview: There's way way way way way too much empty white space. Try to come up with a very subtle background (empahsis on the very), it'll be better than having a solid white background. The site is apparently designed for 800x600 resolution, else the content boxes should be bigger. And something I need to stress the most... FONT! For the nav, set anti-aliased to off for the text. Web-safe or Windows standard fonts look alot better when they are sharp at small font sizes. And the type in the banner isn't so hot either; it isn't appealing, which the font and the placement both contribute to. |

thanks for the tips and about the banner yea i wasnt gonna keep that i just had that till i came up with something better. and the reason the empty spaces are so empty is cause i havent put in the text in the boxes. my parents havent given me a lot of information so its only necessary really for like 4 buttons. and remember this is my first site so if it isnt leet u know why :p (ps. why when i make curves or bends it always looks so ****ty and pixely on ps?) (pss. anyone know where i can get a picture of people doing business or shaking hands or an office desk or something like that?) |
