Hi all,

Here is a picture (me -> very newbie, don't laugh at me) I can't finish: I need to do something with all this empty black space.
The purpose is a wallpaper for windows. I think there are plenty of pics like this over the net (black background with a long banner in the middle), if you have some examples of such pics I'd like to see them.

Or any suggestion to finish this ? Perhaps I should trash it after all: I spent more time trying to fill this void than making the picture.

Anyway thanks in advance!

You want something simple and graphic - (just white on black?), as a balance to the image - (its quite nice by the way). Try a long flowing script typeface.

Pretty cool. I think all it needs now is a carefully chosen font. Any more graphics I think might trash it. Good Job....especially for a newbie!

Justin
PS-let us know when you add the font.

Hi guys

Thanks for the nice comments. I think you're right and text is a good solution. Here is my try:

you can compare with the old one here:

The font for the FoxTrot on the right is Arial, for the white text I tried several fonts but it seems that the only one giving a clean result is "photoshop" (perhaps I didn't try the good ones though). Do you think I can leave as it or any change in the font/text position/sfx is needed ?

The text and the title are from a song ("Afraid of Sunlight" by Marillion)

Thanks a lot for the help !

That looks better....I do think you should find a better font, arial appears too much like web text.....I think you should leave the first line of your poem (inside the image) white, however, slightly sudue the rest of the text....and your right margin is not exactly straight. I hope you don't think I'm slamming your image....I really do like it.

Download a small font, like silkscreen, that would fit in better. Also don't make the text bright white, make it a bit grey.

Newbie? Pfffft please. You aren't no newbie. (at least I hope so). I thought the image looked very nice! I say go to http://www.geocities.com/infodell/fontsgam.html and go nab the "buffy" font. Should be ion the movie selection. By the way for all people who view this url I just gave you I suggest that you go there, there are many awesome fonts there!! The buffy font would look nice IMO in your image with those words. After that I say crop it :D
my 2 cents
visit that site!!!!

I lkie the image. The text should be softer and distanced from the right. It doesn't blend in with the rest. The font change should help it. I would put the afraid of sunligh on the line and have the text be slightly diffrent color.

Virtualdrummer,
You don't load fonts into PS. You download them onto your hard driveand unzip them, then go to control panel>fonts>file>add new font and browse for the folder you unzipped your font into, next highlight the font and add it to your existing fonts. You can find a good tutorial and lot's of cool fonts at http://www.1001freefonts.com/
Hope this helps.

Justin
