Someone Help!

When working with large file (150mb) I get a error that says a virtual memory error has occured. Photoshop gets shut down. I can repeat the error every time. I get the error when resizing or applying a filter so far. Any thoughts?

1 - you dont have enough ram.

2 - your system is trying to use your swapfile and is having an error either reading from or writing to the swapfile. Try increasing the size of your swap file.

and the REAL answer is... Photoshop doesn't get along well with virtual memory. Turn it off.

The Photoshop manual instructs you NOT to run virtual memory. I, for one, don't see a reason to run virtual memory... these days you can buy 512m chips for $65. Fill the machine up. If you can't upgrade memory, you are still better off turning off virtual memory, and using what you have in physical memory.

I have never had a problem running photoshop and virtual memory. Just turn up the amount of ram that photoshop uses in the preferences.

Ok, now what? To recap, Windows XP, 512, Photoshop LE, File size 154mb. Disk error -36, reading or writing to virtual memory.
I ran settings all the way up in LE, cash level 8, mem 90%. I still get the error. Do I have enough mem for that size file?
