i've got a duplicate 450mb .avi file on my hard drive and whenever i try to delete it i get an error saying that it's it may be in use by another prgram. then the computer get veeeeery slow and i have to restart. i've gone into safe mode and deleted the original .avi and still get the same error when attempting to erase the duplicate.
anyone know of a way to get rid of it??

wow it sounds like you have a damaged file. What you can do is starte your pc go to your task manager and kill all processes/applications then try to delete it trhat should work.

so much for the post, i just fixed it. stupid real player has this feature that when you open a media file it starts copying it to the library folder. i canceled that process while it was at it, so that made it a damaged file but it was still 450mb. so, a few minutes ago, i rendered another version of that .avi file and made sure it was the same name. then moved it to the real one library folder which overwrote the broken file. then i was able to delete it.
