Ive seen 40mm fans, but what would you use one this size for?

arent the holes on computer cases for 80 mm fans?

I use one on the northbridge of my motherboard, and on my video card heatsink.

i seen people place thos efans in plases they have cut it out themselfs.

Yeah. I did that.
