I have photoshop 7.0 and it is operating very slowly lately. It used to never do this. The main things that seem to take a while are creating a new image, and layer style actions. Has anyone ever had this problem? How did you fix it? Thank you. - Daniel |

Looks like it's lacking either CPU speed or amount of RAM. Or both. Post the specs of your computer. But, for now, to make it run smoother close some other programs that are running simultaneously as PS. It should help. |

Er.. yeah. We don't know whether he's using XP or not. I'm also that we can't help him until he posts his system specs. And PC World is full of crap. I remember them saying that after nVidia bought over 3Dfx it was going to die off as a company. They also once had a PC building guide that was completely bogus. Seriously. Read either Wired, or maybe something MaximumPC. |

It's not my computer that is insufficient. I have a PIII with 512mb ram and 500mhz. It's nothing special, but easily enough to run PS. It never would do this to me before, all of the sudden it is doing it now. It seems to only do it when I create a new file and or when I perform a layer style function. (ie: stroke, bevel, etc...) I am running win 98 also. Any clues? I try to keep as many other programs closed as possible but system resources get low fast too. Something is wrong here... :( |

Partition a part of your drive and have it dedicated for your scratch disks.
