you're an anomaly, if you look at video card testing the mx's get blown out of the water by geforce3's and even some older cards as they're horribly underclocked. as far as "less error" you shouldn't really have any error with a video card, its either a bad card or needs different drivers. chris |

Exactly. You really don't need much to run a HL mod. Since HL is a Quake 2 engine game. Now, THAT is pretty damn old. |

Hmmm, well this is a tricky question in my opinion. It depends on what game you run. If you're into those old games I would suggest a cheaper Geforce, they do work. I have one myself on one pc, a Geforce 256, wich I even can run Splinter Cell on after some driver updates. But as I have understood it, most new games require a big SOB machine with big SOB vidcards like Radeon 9700 or newer. And as somebody said, you prolly gonna need more RAM. Bios updates, and an overall driver update to just accomplish a test wether your pc can play them newer games...It will more then likely come to the fact that your pc is to old...:( For graphix card questions I recommend the freedomhope site wich, for some reason, doesn't work at this time...(Hope it isn't down for always, I found a lot of help here...) Graphix drivers links: Nvidia Graphics: win9x = http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=win9x_43.45 Win2000/XP = http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_43.45 Nvidia Nforce Unified Driver Package: Win98 = http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=nforce_udp_win98se_2.03 WinME = http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=nforce_udp_winme_2.03 Win2000 = http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=nforce_udp_win2k_2.03 WinXP = http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=nforce_udp_winxp_2.03 ATI Graphics Drivers.: All OS listing = http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/powered.html I hope you'll fix things without having to spend all your savings on a new "can"... |
