I, like many people here am a very big fan of eye candy. I use windowblinds and iconpackager (yes, i payed for them). I love looking at pretty sites with intense graphics.

But when is it too much. Excluding the sites that take forever because someone has huge graphic file sizes. What I mean is, even sometimes, art sites go way overboard with their stuff. supersmall font faces(guilty), hi-res graphics that look like p00 in anything less than 32 bit color (guilty) and a wide array of other things that I myself am guilty of. What do you think? Has the technology age moved far enough that we can expect that most visitors to your site are going to see the site the way you want it to be seen? Or should the people in the design community start realizing that some people cant see 11px font in 32bit color at 1280x1024?

Thoughts..

I think thats something that will never go away. Everyone will have different res, and show different amount of colors. What bothers me most is that alot of the best web artists are working more on being able to shrink their file sizes and color content for everyone to view it that we dont get to see their best work.

There outta be a law against people making websites that takes forever to load and when the page finally loads (if yer even there at the time) it sucks big way time. Now I aint a great webdesigner myself but I'm at least thinking of the viewer rather than myself since I am only making the site and the viewer has to see the crap.
Therefor I try to cut up large images for faster download and keep the subject interesting. Maybe that's why I never get to finish off a site before I re-design it....
Anyway....Good point there man....!!

Nanne, I so agree with you. And there should also be a law against popup windows when you leave a web site.

I don't like popups at all, but it can be ok, if it's used properly...

It P***** me of when I leave a site and 5 popup windows comes....

Just my word...

Yeah. Them so called "free mp3's here" sites are kinda going that direction. But most of us have already learned that so we hate them and will never go anywhere near a mp3 site again right? Hehe :P .....

Them popups are a real drag and they often pop up after the page finish loading so it gets to be more aggrevating and irritating.........

Rock On !!!
