Hello Team Members, I know its been a while since I posted anything here. Recently I was able to buy a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop (Pentium 4, 1.6 GHz, DVD/CD-RW) at the phenomenal price of $300 - thanks to being in the right place at the right time. I bought the laptop from a friend of mine at work. He came in couple weeks ago and said it was busted, all he could get was a black screen. I had always wanted to buy the laptop off him but he never want to part with it. He allowed me to take it home and see if I could fix it. He didn't want to sell me a busted laptop, so he agreed to $300 for it. I fixed it that night by sticking in a new hard drive - SeaGate 100GB 7200rpm - which I got at Best Buy for $200. It was my time to find amazing deals, eh? I took it back to work and showed it to him. I had also downloaded new drivers from Dell and got most of the laptop's accessories up and running. He was pretty bummed that all it needed was a new hard drive, but he had already sold it to me.......oops, hehe. Anyway, so here I am with this new laptop and I can finally do my design work while I'm at work and wouldn't you know it, this week my design partner and I split up after working together for 3 years. All over something small and trivial. I'm pretty bummed about this. You would think after 3 years you would know a person. All it takes sometimes is one small thing ... But hey, I got the laptop. Now all I have to do is find a new partner :( -dc |

Welcome back. Sorry to hear about your business partner, but good to hear about the computer. |

Hey man, welcome back.... good to hear that you came back, and that new comp sounds sweet. Business partners kindof suck anyways, mainly because they are their own person and can simply leave when they want, but none the less, sorry to hear about that.... :p

Thanks guys. Yeah, the laptop is sweet! Just installed 512MB more RAM today. Like the SeaGate I found another great deal at Best Buy - 512MB of Kingston RAM for $110. I now have 641MB of RAM. Another 512MB chip will take me over 1GB. With running Photoshop, DreamweaverMX, and a bunch of other apps and windows I've noticed the difference more RAM makes. I'm also planning on getting a second hard drive for running Photoshop. The 8200 has two bays in the front and you can stick an extra hard drive in one of them. |
