I’ve got to design 3 30” by 40” posters using just text and no images. Does anyone have any recourses bookmarked by any chance that may give some tips on how to do this?

Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

kinda vague, there's not really any "tips" that will help you. to put it simply, design is design. just think about it, what are you trying to communicate? what sort of attitude do you want to convey? can you use (or do you want to use) the text to represent something else?

Im with fig.

If there is really any useful tip i can give.....its think about the text as shapes/objects/forms. Dont think about it like text! Also dont be afraid to scale the text! (like your entire background could be the lower curve of an "S" or something )

School project?? I had to do a couple of them myself.

Yah I understand it’s kind of difficult to give tips about this. I think I’m more interested in just seeing some examples of some really good use of type without images. I’ve done these projects before and I’ve come up with my own solutions. It’s not about that.

I’m just interested in researching what’s trendy out there right now and things like that. I was hoping some of you guys had maybe some info as to where’s a good site to look. I’ve looked around trust me.

I think the best example of what kind of stuff I’m looking for is in Print Magazine. Great ads posters and designs with type.

Another words (sorry if I keep repeating myself) I’m looking for a website that has some great content like in Print Magazine or Communication Arts but don’t charge to subscribe.

I have no idea if I’m making sense lol. Sorry guys.

My tip it this. It's a project done solely with text, so do it in a program made for text (ie: Quark, Indesign).

I made this in my design class a few years ago, it has 30,000 words on an 11" x 17" piece of paper. There is no way PS or Illustrator would have liked that. Quark hardly did. It's pretty dated now, but you get the idea.

Nope. It's all the same type over and over again. The goal was to try and create colour and texture with tons of text. Believe it or not, with the schools printer, that poster had a texture to it. You could look at it from an angle and see the layers of ink. I was pretty happy with it at the time. It's nothing magical to look at, but I was happy with the outcome.

Goudy is my favourite font by the way. :D
