Ok, is doing pixel art really just drawing a picture at really low dpi, or are there any particular techniques or methods involved.

If someone could point me in the direction of some tutorials, that'd be sweet

One pixel at a time. Just take your pencil tool and start drawing. Just change shades for shadows and highlights.

There aren't any good tutorials. Have 2 windows of the same image on at once. One at 100% one at like 1000%(or whatever). Just gotta use your imagination.

pixel art has nothing to do with dpi. your still @ 72. What you want to do is open a small document (anywhere from 30x30 to 100x100..or more if you need it) zoom in about 800% and use your pencil tool to draw each pixel.

Thats what you need. It wont tell you everything..but it has the basics down (how to draw a line properly...to to shade..etc)

You also need patience, a lot of patience, and time. That's why I could never finish a pixel art thingy, I have neither patience nor time.

Good point! Patience is a must. Also as a tip...if you do try pixel art...start out with easy sqaure shaped objects (like a cube er someting). Dont try to make curves or anything...cause thats is REALLY hard. You can spend hours just trying to make a round object!!

Just draw dude. With your pencil. And shade it right ... that's about it. Probably a good idea to zoom in to get a better view of what your doing though. That always seems to help.

Look at the pixel animation on http://www.indie-rpg.net/pixel-zone/shtml/tut-isometric.shtml . Very creative and quite amazing.
