That is a great list. However Incubus's new stuff is too whiny... their old stuff was the shiat... back when they were funk-ish.

I'll also add:

The Doors
Led Zeppelin
Interpol
Beastie Boys (Oooooh, yeeeaaah!)
The Hives
The Strokes
The White Stripes

Yeh... can't forget the doors.
Come on come on come on come on now TOUCH me baaaaby..

I like Incubus's new stuff. It's experimental.

But their old days were awesome. The funk was off the hook.

(You will be a hot dancer, anyone? :D)

The doors! How could I forget to mention them!
I actually love the doors...

And jester, thanks for reminding me off the strokes...
I listened again to them at work today and really loved it! Actually bought the album. Thanks...

Ok, seeing as how I started this post, I figured it's about time I responded.

Here's some of my favorite bands right now this list is not to say that I do not like oldskool stuff, but these are just some new (or recent) bands that people should listen to.

Hooverphonic- Mellow, but hey, why not?

The Postal Service- Also mellow, but with a little flava added from DJ Dntel.

Death Cab For Cutie- Former band of the lead singer from The Postal Service. Slightly emo, but not as flagrantly craptacuar as goddamn Dashboard Confessional

Massive Attack- Just, yeah.

Chumbawamba- SHUT UP AND LISTEN. not their 'tubthumper' album that the american pop music construct utterly destroyed, but rather some of their older stuff, like their album 'wysiwyg', which has a pretty dope song about how much microsoft sucks. They're actually very political, kinda like the UK's Rage Against The Machine.

Rage Against The Machine- This requires no explaination, though I will say that their last album was mediocre at best.

Linkin Park-SOME of it, especially their 'reanimation' stuff.

BT-This is a once in a while kind of band

Delerium- Also once in a while

Enigma- Weird stuff. Listen to them when you're not working on a project, then start a new image, and see what unfolds.

Bad Religion- You say you like Flogging Molly? Then you must know who Bad Religion is.

Rob Dougan- This man was responsible for some of the most memorable tracks in The Matrix including 'Clubbed To Death' which was played during the scene with the woman in the red dress, in Matrix 1.

Paul Oakenfold- Hi-Quality beats (excluding Starry Eyed Surprise. That was just wrong.)

The Doves- Buy 'The Last Broadcast' now.

Cake- I don't know why, I just really like them.

Blue Man Group- Yes, they are an actual band, not just some marketing ploy cooked up by intel. Their first albums better.

Radiohead- All around good stuff.

Coldplay- I just want them to be played less.

Well, I guess that's it for now. Go download some of that stuff. You might like it.

P.S. Yeah Charm, I have 1 gotan project song, Epoca, that was on a compilation album that I got. Are any of their songs in english?

*edit* I like html, especially when you italicise everything. I also like html when it clods stuff together

Last time I checked BT was a one-man team comprised of a Washington DC born Brian Transeau. Better take back that hideous band comment or someone's going to be throwing turntables at ya.

Well, yeah, I guess, but they have a lead singer, dont they? And there's Brian (I think that's his first name) Doughty, formerly of Soul Coughing, who is a frequent accomplice. They collaborated with The Roots on a track on the Blade 2 soundtrack, which is pretty phat.

Yes, I just said phat

One band I forgot to add is also The Roots. They're REALLY good. probably one of the best sets of actual musicians out there. New musicians, at least

Dear Sweet Jesus...

That is either the single worst, or the single greatest thing I've ever heard. I'm still trying to figure it out.

Just...

Wow.
