Google: ||||| ||||| ||||| |
No need for one: |
Yahoo!/Dogpile/Altavista/HotBot/Infospace/mama.com: |
Geocities: | (don't ask me)

Google wins.

And how can anyone not like Google's interface? It's nice and simple but powerful. Oh and to anyone with a lot of time on their hands - check out http://www.googlewhack.com. A googlewhack is a two-word Google search that returns exactly one result. And there are some other rules. Fun fun fun.

"And how can anyone not like Google's interface?"

Its cramped.... not enough spacing.... all the fonts are fairly the same in size so trying to trying to seperate the content from the titles and links and what not is much more confusing......the green color on the links drives me insane and the entire page is weighted to the left side with barely any margin. Its a mess. Yes its easy, simple and powerful (thats why so many engines are based off them) but visually speaking its terrible. Its usabitily is way below many other searches.

As you can tell im extremely picky!! If you want to see what im talkin about do a side by side. One search on google...one search on yahoo and look that the giant differences between the 2 pages. Not sure about all of you google lovers...but orginization really improves my workflow. (never mind eye strain lol) But again......im extremely picky lol

google does the trick for me.

I used to use Yahoo! & AltaVista & Excite & Infoseek and blah blah blah blah...

I like google's interface. It's not meant to be read, just used. I can't even tell you what it says, I just know you type in what you're looking for and the interface, whether you read it or not...is gone.

**poof**

...like a fart in the wind.

wow.....maybe im more picky than i thought. Anyway its not bout being pretty. Its about orginization. Like yahoo is numbered. Even though numbers are meaningless.......for some reason it just helps me scroll through the results that much faster. If anything instead of looking at a whole pile of results.....it directs my eyes where to go. Its like a websites gallery not using thumbnails. Links may be easy to use..click on and direct you were to go...but without the thumbnails your lost in a pile of meaning less links. But again im picky...so dont mind me.
