Amenranozira, you ever been to Deadend Paradise? Oh, great topic by the way, very funny. Ive been on two weeks, Hotline _e_ _e_. Classic having your comp in your room, but now mine is moved to the livingroom. I could go a few days with the gentle hum but after awhile I had to shut it down at nights. GF's sake. |

My computers stay on 24/7, as does my dsl connection. Only the monitors go off at night. Computers don't suffer from being on all the time. Only perhaps your electricity bill, but my electricity bill is not bad at all.

yes, i don't think it really effects your electricity bill that much. my monitor goes off automatically after 30 minutes. but the rest stays on all the time.

hrm ... can't say that i have. but it's hard for me to download things reliably during the day since my computer freezes up during downloads...for some reason i have a device driver problem which causes windows to crash. and i have seen the light! winXp has a BSOD!!!! i was playing CS and it just popped on for a split second, then i was like "oh crap!" but it restarted right after that split second. yesterday i was blessed to attempt downloading 1 episode 5 times...but no worries it was only over a 4 hour period and I did manage to finish... what's deadend paradise? btw Kenshin and Hellsing are pretty good... |

I shut off my mac at night, but leave it on all day at home, whether or not I'm there. I actually am a big enough geek to have it on a schedule so it's on at 7:30 and shuts itself off at night, too. I read something in a Macworld a while back that said it's virtually no noticeable difference in power usage if the machine is on or off, but recommended shutting it off just to prolong the life of the machine. |
