I live in Canada, so I don't know if we will be doing anything. We will probably have a moment of silence in school.

I was silent for a moment, believe it or not, I was. And for once, at one of those silent moments, I actually thought about what I was supposed to think about and not the shoppinglist...

I don't think anyone will ever forget w'appened 11/9-01.

I for one, was at work on 9-11/2001 when I heard via my coworkers that something had happened over there in the states. First we all thought that it was an earthquake or maybe some smaller plane that had hit some building. But as we continued to listen to the news, the truth came clear and it was shocking to say the least....A day I will never forget.....

As the first American to post in this thread, I speak for my whole country when I say thank you for all the international support.

I've never seen my country come together like it is today. Not too many dry eyes.

Everything seems to be put in perspective today. Just be thankful for all the things you've got, especially families and friends.

I'm glad that many people of the international community stood up along with the millions of Americans for the moment of silence at 8:46 AM.

And yeah, this was a thread for those people who wanted to post works in rememberance of 9/11.

I find it hard to bring myself to compose a piece of art on the anniversary of such a dreadful event. Yet, I seek refuge in a medium; not that of art, music, but rather, composition. To be able to bring me to the level of expressing my thoughts in the form of written language must take an event as extraordinary as 9/11. I often remind myself that I am unbelievably lucky to not lose anyone close in this tragedy, although I still find myself on the verge of shedding tears for those lost. It’s amazing how even a person like me can be severely affected psychologically to this extent. The terrorists have managed to attack, not only our city and country, but even our minds. Our beliefs. Our peace of mind. It’s hard to comprehend that we believed to be in the safest place anyone could be in this world of chaos and disorganization.
I have heard stories of people thinking about leaving the city. I can see people lining up at ticket counters at La Guardia and JFK airport, seeing if there was even an open seat in the economy class for the next flight out to anywhere. Or maybe even watching the moving trucks driving out onto Queens Blvd. on my way home. But, I will never be one of them. Never will I leave New York. I was born and raised and grew up to embrace New York as my home. To pack up and leave is to admit defeat. To show that we will abandon our home. Not one place in this world can replace what home means to me, and that is here. Everything I grew up with has the image of New York infused into it: the New York skyline, the two towers that stood out among the other buildings and all the reminders that makes us unique. The subways. The floor encrusted with decade-old gum. The stench accompanying the homeless. The dirt and grit that reminds us that the commuters use the trains for what it’s worth. And we cannot forget the one thing that makes New York the New York I love. And that is the people. People of different ethnic backgrounds. People of different ages. People of different religion and income. We are what makes up New York.
I was asked by my friends in my class at the Fashion Institution of Technology, at which I attended the pre-college programs in the summer, when was the last time I really cried. I promptly replied with,
“9/11.”
And so they laughed and chuckled at me, but, they understood me. These people live far away, two from New Jersey and one that I believe to live in Connecticut. Distance distorts feelings. Those who weren’t able to witness this first hand were bombarded by the media’s inefficiency to capture and relay all the experiences of those who witnessed this. For every one of the thousands of people who were there, there is another story to tell.
We are all traveling on the road of life, picking up experiences and memories along the way. Never a two-way street, we continue to look forward, forward to the future and that which awaits us. We can never forget those memories we have acquired. Memory is merely a record. That which is not remembered never happened. Never existed. Fortunately, life is like ink, once we’ve written it down, it’s there for life. No matter how much we try to cover it up, it will always exist within the minds of others. Memory is a virtue. Never forget.

I for one will never forget and take great pride in my country and in what we have accomplished in coming together in the past 365 days...wow it doesnt seem like it has been that long, yet at the same time, feels like an eternity of loss ago. Victims of senseless acts of violence, we will never ever forget...
